On June 23rd, 2009 our toilet stopped working. Instead of calling a plumber or fixing it ourselves, we tore it out along with the rest of the bathroom, plunging headfirst into a full DYI house remodel. This had been the plan all along, committing ourselves to the idea of hard work, manual labor, and homesteading ideology long before the two acre property in the Santa Cruz Mountains was officially ours. Now, over three years after that fateful bathroom demolition, we are far from done. But the lessons learned, insight gained, patience tested, and heartstrings bound have compelled us to share the process with the world. We hope you enjoy watching this chapter of our journey.
